Ayamonte Ayamonte is a town and fishing port located in the province of Huelva Spain at the very mouth of the Guadiana River, and is the last beach resort before the Portuguese border. The area has a wonderful climate all year around and apart from the beaches, it is a great place for golf enthusiasts. Choose your self catering holiday rental in this lovely area and you will find all you need for a perfect escape at your fingertips. The township of Ayamonte preserves its old medieval quarter in the central district of the town, with many very narrow streets and historical buildings; this central area is a designated pedestrian zone. This makes for a very pleasant and care-free stroll, especially for those with young children. A bridge over the Guadiana River links the motorway system with Portugal, although the old ferry crossing between the two countries still operates and is a cheap form of transport. The Ayamonte area has several kilometres of beautiful sandy beach and the two beach resorts which are connected to one another are Isla Canela and Punta Moral. There are many beach bars, cafes and sporting facilities on Isla Canela Beach, while Punta Moral is quieter and very suited to families with small children. Those who choose to rent a holiday villa in this lovely area cannot fail to be impressed by the beautiful countryside that is made up of gentle dunes, eucalyptus trees, orange and olive trees and other lush vegetation. The nearest large city is Huelva which is also the capital of the province and can be easily accessed by car or train. While here you may wish to take advantage of the close proximity to Villa Real de San Antonio in Portugal and take a day trip across to sample another culture and do some shopping.
