Description of facilities: A child's cot and bed linen is supplied
Description inside property: Casa al Colle is part of a farmstead of 1663. The house was the original barn where hay was stored above and the animals housed below. Today visitors enter the house from the side directly into the living room with central wood-burning fireplace. Beyond the fireplace is a comfortable sitting area with bathroom (with tub) off and then the kitchen area, well equipped. From the kitchen another door leads to a lawn with gazebo for eating out.
Upstairs are the 3 bedrooms, one double, one with bunk beds and the third containing a double bed and a comfortable fold-down bed making it in effect a twin bedroom or a room for a couple and a child. The second bathroom, (with shower) is also upstairs. Downstairs again one of the sofas also unfolds into a double bed, making the house ideal for 6 people but with space for 9 if necessary.
Description outside property: Visitors come out of the house directly onto a small lawn / play area. Next to this is a gazebo opening into the kitchen and where visitors can eat out whatever the weather. The barbecue area is slightly further up the slope, and a path and steps lead on up the slope to the pool area above the house. Here there is a shower and changing area and chairs and loungers set out around the pool. From here the view is truly wonderful while the pool itself is 'fantastic' as visitors comment.
The owners house is the original farmhouse next door to Casa al Colle. However the lawn, gazebo and the pool are all on the side away from the owners making these areas private and for visitors use only - apart from the owners' soft-natured dog who becomes a firm friend of visiting children.

Description of local area and activities: The large pool is undoubtedly the main focus of a holiday at Casa al Colle. Loungers and sun umbrellas are provided and the view is stupendous. Apart from the pool, there are country walks both directly from the house and, for keen walkers, a short drive away in the Apuan Alps. Medieval Lucca is only 8 kms away or, better still, the local station is only 3km with a good selection of trains into Lucca. Florence and Pisa are also within easy reach. The owner is a good cook and offers traditional Tuscan meals on request. For mid-season holidays she offers guided walks through the woods and meadows to collect herbs for making local dishes. Reasonable prices paid directly.
