Description of facilities: There is a wood burning stove in the kitchen and parking space for at least 4 cars.
Description inside property: Grand Chalet Cheylard, situated at the foot of the Alps, in the tranquil village of Lus-La-Croix-Haute is the perfect location for an alpine retreat. Whether you want to spend the day ski-ing in the the nearby resorts or simply relax and admire the many views, there is something to meet your every mood.
The chalet has been recently decorated to capture the rustic feel of the dramatic mountainous scenery outside and has everything you need to make your stay feel like the perfect home from home, whether you want an action packed adventure or a relaxing retreat.
Living The open plan living area includes a good sized kitchen with wood burning stove, fridge/freezer, microwave and built in gas cooker with electric oven. This opens up to the dining room with a pine table and seating for 12 diners. It also included its own mahogany bar, perfect for concocting the regional kir royal or your own creative cocktail, or of course simply pour a glass of the local vin rouge. There are 2 bathrooms, 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs. The downstairs bathroom has a bath, wash hand basic & shower with separate WC and the upstairs bathroom has a shower, wash hand basin and WC. The living room includes a cosy corner sofa and seating to relax in front of the fire. There is also a TV and DVD with satellite connection, making sure you can keep in touch with the outside world if you chose or you can take out the plug.
Sleeping All 6 bedrooms have been decorated with comfort and practicality in mind. There are 5 double bedrooms and 1 family room with twin beds and bunk beds, perfect for children, a travel cot is also available. Every room has bedside tables and lamps with relaxing lighting after a hard day ski-ing, climbing a mountain or relaxing by the pool. All your storage needs are catered for with wardrobes and a chest of drawers to keep your ski wear, walking boots, flip-flops or cycling shorts, whatever your passion. Relaxing The chalet has a large patio with amazing scenery from all angles accessed through the French doors from the dining room. The small pool is big enough for a refreshing dip and there is garden furniture and a BBQ, should you wish to dine al fresco. Just in case the sun gets too hot there is a large awning which can be pulled over the patio. The heart of the house is the open wood burning fire, where you can while away many an hour reading a good book, toasting marshmallows or simply staring into the flames with a nice drink of cocoa or something a little bit stronger. Should you wish to venture out there are 2 restaurants in the village. Hotel du Commerce, where Monsieur cooks specialities of the region himself and Les 3 Marmottes has a lovely, friendly bar & dining room with an extensive menu where you are always made to feel welcome. Summer In Summer popular outdoor pursuits include mountain biking (there is a trail right outside Chalet Cheylard), Hill Walking, Rock Climbing, Hand Gliding and Cycling. The village also has its own large outdoor swimming pool and tennis/basket ball courts. Winter The village’s ski station, La Jarjatte, provides a great location for Alpine & Cross-country ski-ing, perfect for beginners. Higher Altitude ski-ing is 40 mins away at the Super Devoluy resort.
