Description of facilities: Washing machine and ironing equipment are shared with other gites and located in laundry room close to rear of cottage.

Description inside property: Chene Vert is a traditional style cottage which has been sympathetically restored with stone floors and 'pierre apparent' style walls downstairs. . The large fireplace houses a wood-burning stove for use during low season rentals.The ground floor is open plan with kitchen/dining and living areas.
A spiral staircase leads to the bathroom and two bedrooms. Both bedrooms have vanity units with wash-hand basins. The bedrooms are painted in pastel colours with exposed oak beams. Lovely views across the valley are given from both bedrooms.

Description outside property: Chene Vert has seating at both the back and front of the property to make the most of the sunshine (or shade)! Beach style chairs and sun loungers are located around the pool at the rear of the cottage.

Description of eco friendly facilities: Chene Vert has a 'Flamme Vert' standard poele (wood burning stove) which has a high level of efficiency and low emission of pollutants.

Description of local area and activities: Les Eyzie (10 minutes away) is described as the 'prehistory centre of Europe' and houses the National Museum of prehistory. There are a large number of caves open to the public showing examples of cave paintings and sculpture. Other cave sites are examples of Troglodyte habitation over many centuries. Sarlat (9 miles away) is a beautifully preserved medieval town as well as being renowned for its vast Saturday market.
For those who enjoy outdoor activities, the property is located on the edge of the medieval village of Meyrals which give opportunities for walking and cycling on quiet paths or 'chemin rurale'. Meyrals is perfectly situated between both the Vezere and Dordogne rivers (approx. 3 miles to each) where canoes may be hired. For the less energetic, a short drive along beside the Dordogne will take you to Beynac where you can take a ride on one of the traditional river boats and absorb the view of one of the many splendid castles in the area.
Enjoy being 'a local' by popping into the small town of St. Cyprien (3 miles) on Sunday morning to visit the bustling market or just to sit at a pavement cafe for a leisurely coffee and watch the world go by!

Notes: Change over day is Saturday in high season although we may be able to accommodate different days at other times of the year - please contact us with your request.
A 25% deposit is required on booking with the balance due six weeks before the start of the holiday.
Bed linen and towels (but not pool towels) are included in the cost of the holiday as is a small welcome pack. A hamper of groceries and/or a ready made meal can be ordered if required.
