Description of local area and activities: Although the house is located in a small hamlet the town of Riberac is only 2kms away. Riberac itself has all modern amenities including an excellent tourist information office in the main square, cafes, bars, restaurants, supermarkets, banks, post office, bakers. There is a regular Friday morning market held in the main square, which is well worth a visit.
Easily accessible local activities include: canoeing, walking trails, cycling, golf (Perigueux (25kms), Angouleme (30kms), Chateau Vigier (50kms approx) All 18 hole courses. There is a 9 hole course at Manoir le Longeveau.
There is fishing and beaches at La Jemaye (14kms) La Jemaye is a large lake with sandy beaches, pedaloes, canoes, horse riding, picnic areas, a cafe etc.
Slightly further away, but easily accessible for a day trip by car are the historic towns of Brantome (canoeing) and Sarlat. Bourdielles, La Rochelle, Bordeaux, the wine regions of Bordeaux, St Emilion, Bergerac and Cognac and the famous Atlantic beaches and dunes of Archachon. |
