Description outside property: Claddagh cottage is set in a tiny hamlet of just 5 properties - the other 4 are owned by our french neighbours, who have made us feel very welcome over the past 5 years. It is NOT part of a 'gite complex' so all the space & facilities are yours to enjoy ! Our property consists of the small house we live in, a large barn, Claddagh cottage and 4 acres of grounds & gardens. Many years ago it was a working farm with only horses to plough the fields. We are a retired couple who live in our 'quiet corner' We can be invisible or there to help if needed. You have exclusive use of 2 terraces - 1 to the side of the cottage and 1 opposite, both having barbeques ( and cooking tools) Both terraces have a table, 6 chairs, parasol, and there are 6 sunloungers & cushions which can be placed wherever you want. The 15' round above ground pool is for the exclusive use of guests staying at the cottage. In the little pool house there is an additional fridge - perfect for chilling your drinks, so you'll have extra room in the cottage fridge for your food. There is also a dartboard outside - just for a bit of fun. With varying degrees of success we grow our own vegetables, fruit & herbs organically. Guests are free to pick their favourite herbs for the barbeque or cooking. Within the grounds is a fishpond - again, guests are invited to sit & relax to the sound of running water and our resident frog ! Our region is renowned for its' quality of light & star filled skies at night.

Local markets, brocantes, bric-a-bracs are always colourful affairs. We provide information at the cottage 'what's on where' There are a multitude of historic villages, all with a story to tell. The historic port of La Rochelle & the west coast 1 hr 30 mins. The city of Bordeaux under 2 hours. Paris via the train (TGV) from Angouleme in 2 hrs 15 mins. - It's so easy.
