Description of facilities: At our pool bar we keep a stock of books, games and equipment eg. badminton rackets, croquet set, which all guests are encouraged to borrow.
Laundry equipment - washing machine, ironing board and iron are shared between the five gites and are kept in a laundry room at the rear of the properties. Each gite is equipped with a clothes horse.
Description inside property: The property has been sympathetically restored to keep the traditional 'pierre apparente' finish to walls and exposed beams. Downstairs is open plan with a fitted kitchen area, dining table and comfortable sitting area. Windows look out to the pool at the rear of the property and garden at the front.
Description outside property: The property is set on a seven acre site with gardens, orchard, and meadow which guests are welcome to wander in and help themselves to fruit in season. The complex is on the edge of the medieval village of Meyral which has an award -winning boulangerie/epicerie, 2 restaurants and a very friendly bar.

Description of local area and activities: Meyrals is the perfect location for a holiday in the Dordogne: within a short drive it is possible to reach many of the major sites of the region. Les Eyzie de Tayac, often referred to as the centre of prehistory, with its caves and National museum is less than 10 minutes drive. Sarlat de Caneda is well known for its beautiful medieval buildings and narrow streets not to mention its saturday market, one of the largest in the south West of France. Meyral is situated between the rivers Vezere and Dordogne both of which are popular for canoeing. There are many sign posted circular walks in the area which are generally gently undulating along paths, tracks and 'chemin rurale'. We have walked many of these paths ourselves and are happy to give advice on routes.
There is a market on every day of the week if you like to shop or wait until Sunday morning to visit St. Cyprien (3 miles away) where the market fills the town centre and you can sit at a pavement cafe to watch the world go by! |
