Description inside property: La Maison de Roquefort is situated in a beautiful, tree-covered valley close to some fabulous walking trails and picturesque cycling routes. The roads are extremely quiet with little traffic. The house is a great venue for family get-togethers, outdoor activity groups and business development groups, in fact any kind of special occasion that would benefit a group in need of some quality time together.
The house has been decorated to a high standard with a great deal of care by its owners, Kay & Mike. It sleeps 8 adults comfortably and three of the rooms are large enough to take additional beds for children. The décor throughout is unmistakably French and the kitchen and bathrooms are fully modernised.
The Ground Floor:
A welcoming entrance hall leads through to a cool dining/sitting room (salle à manger) to your right and a large fully-fitted modern kitchen/diner to your left. The main dining table in the salle is 3 metres long and will accommodate 10-12 people. There are several comfortable chairs and a settee in the other half of the room. A television and DVD player are available on request.
The Kitchen/Diner
The kitchen is spacious and well lit, with plenty of workspace and a large serving area. There are two sinks linked by a drainer, a quality Brandt oven and Brandt induction hob, plus an extractor hood, a small fridge and a dishwasher. There is also a large fridge/freezer. The kitchen is well supplied with crockery, utensils and cutlery and several electric labour-saving items including 2 x slow cookers, a large blender and a hotplate for grilling steaks etc. The kitchen has a breakfast area with a table, providing an alternative to eat from the main dining room or the courtyard. A kettle and a coffee machine can also be found in the breakfast area.
Off the main landing on the first floor you will find four spacious bedrooms (one with full en suite) and a separate bathroom with a large, walk-in shower, toilet and washbasin.
The Kings Room has a ‘kingsize’ (160x200cm) four-poster bed. The Queens Room has the same size mattress size (160x200cm) on a black metal framed bed and a large washbasin. Across the landing is the Princess Room. It is a twin bedded room (2 x 90x200cm white metal framed beds) with a full en suite including a large 2-person shower.The fourth room, the Prince Room is spacious and also has a kingsize (160x200cm) black metal-framed bed.
All rooms are decorated to a high standard. Each has fabulous views of the surrounding hills and greenery. The mattresses are new, extremely comfortable and of a high specification. There are mirrors and/or pictures in every room plus plenty of drawer and hanging space. Keys are provided for each bedroom.

Description outside property: Set in the countryside there are fields and woodland all around. The garden is to the rear of the property with a variety of fruit trees and grass area. A large set of wooden garden furniture is provided with a large adjustable sun umbrella.

| Description of local area and activities: Our house is set in the heart of Cathar Country. The monument of Montsegur (30km) can be viewed from our village square. Nearby rock formations include Roquefort les Cascades and The Labryinth Gardens near Puivert. For walkers we are close to the Sentier de Cathar G10 trail. Our area is particularly excellent for cycling, walking and riding. For winter holiday makers we are 30 minutes from Mont d'Olmes ski resort. Children will enjoy the local outdoor swimming pools, Prehistoric Park at Tarascon, Maison de Loup (wolf sanctuary) near Foix, Bird parks and local Festivals. |

Notes: Mont d’Olmes – Space to ski and a great resort for learners:
Travel times (car): approx. 30 minutes
Only 30 minutes from the house is Mont d’Olmes, a small but excellent French ski resort with a good range of Green (5), Blue (3) and Red (7) runs plus a great Black run, all spread over 23 kilometres. Mont d’Olmes is popular for walkers in the summer and great for snowshoe and cross-country enthusiasts in the winter, due to its wide open piste and mountain-top walking areas. The Snow Park is a fabulous and safe area for younger skiers to experience the freestyle thrills of half-pikes and kickers, boardercross and rails. |
