Description of local area and activities: Located in a small hamlet, surrounded by lakes and woodland, in the beautiful Limousin countryside. Just 1.5 kms away is the charming village of St Mathieu, with its various shops, bars/restaurant. A 15 minute drive takes you to the picturesque town of Piègut with its weekly market. Ideally located to explore the region's many historic sites and attractions - or to simply relax and enjoy the tranquility of the gite.
Located in the Haute Vienne/Dordogne/Charante borders, and the famous 'Richard the Lionheart Route', this beautiful rural region is rich in historic sites, attractions and activities. There are many large lakes, numerous chateaux, quaint villages and larger historial towns and cities to explore. Throughout the year there are markets and fetes to visit - often celebrating local interests, from chestnuts or mushrooms to local cider or woodcrafts.
Limoges, famous for its porcelain, is only 50 minutes drive away. Within the Dordogne and only 45 minutes by car is Brantôme, known as the Venice of the Dordogne, with the river Drone flowing through it, and a little further south is the medieval City of Perigeux. In the Charante and just over 1 hour drive is the hilltop City of Angoulême with its narrown streets littered with cafés and restaurants. |
