Description inside property: Le Coze has been completely refurbished to a high standard in 2005.
The large house is accessed by six very wide steps onto a sun-trap terrace. This makes an excellent outside eating area for a large group of people. The terrace catches the sun all day and makes a relaxing area late into the evenings.
The two sets of French windows lead into a large dining room that easily accommodates ten people around a farmhouse table. There is a chimney with log burning stove should the evenings become cooler in October and a ceiling fan to cool you off in the hot summer days.
The kitchen is attached to the dining room and has been recently installed with every modern appliance: a gas hob with six burners, electric oven with spit roast, microwave, dishwasher, washer/drier and American style fridge freezer with ice and chilled water constantly on tap.
Also on this level are two bedrooms, one a twin and the other with double bed. A full bathroom with bath and shower is adjacent to the bedrooms, as is a separate toilet with basin. Thse bedrooms look out over gardens and onto the orchard. Leading from the dining room is a double aspect snug with lounge furniture, English TV and radio through Sky connection, DVD player, videos and an ideal area to play one of the many board games or read the books that are available throughout the house. The town of Gourdon is visible on the horizon from the snug window.
Upstairs, the landing opens onto three bedrooms and a shower room with toilet. All of these rooms have beamed ceilings. One bedroom with twin beds overlooks the front of the house and a double bedroom surveys the swimming pool. The main bedroom is very large, with newly laid polished wooden floor, king-size bed and its own en suite shower room with toilet.
For babies/young children a high chair, cot and bed linen are available on request.

Description of local area and activities: Le Coze lies in the southern region of the Perigord Noir, an area famous for its foie gras, strawberries and walnuts, which can be sampled in the wonderful local restaurants. Majestic medieval towns are found nearby along the Dordogne river. There are numerous historic and geographical sites, including Lascaux, Rocamadour, Padirac, La Roque Gageac, Sarlat and Domme that must be visited from Le Coze.
Many of the local villages are very active in the summer months, with local fetes and events for all to enjoy. A neighbouring village has a strawberry fair while St Martial de Nabirat boasts the garlic fair in August.
The nearby village of Grolejac boasts a lake with beach for those interested in water sports and those interested in insects might consider a visit to Insectorama. |
