Description of facilities: Mobile A/C unit, convector heaters (both very effective), linen and towels provided but laundry charged. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped. Large library of books, including novels, guide books, and background books (history of the Cathars, Canal du Midi, etc.) Maps, leaflets etc. provided. Full sewing box in apartment, also a tapestry that clients are invited to stitch at if they wish. Large amount of material sent with Information Pack. We cannot emphasise too strongly that the apartment does NOT look as if it has been put together with everyone's rejects! Clients frequently remark that it is a real 'home-from-home'.
Description inside property: The apartment is situated on the first floor, and is decorated in a traditional manner in the French style. There are lots of prints and mirrors and the walls. There is a small entrance hall, with two double bedrooms leading off it. One bedroom has an en suite bath and is decorated in a coordinating toile de Jouy fabric and has a Louis Philippe bed. There is a washing machine in the bathroom. The other bedroom has an en suite shower and is decorated with a co-ordinating rose print fabric, and has a bateau lit. There is a separate WC. The bedrooms are at the back of the apartment. There are four steps down to the reception area, which has a spacious kitchen/diner, leading into a separate lounge. The lounge has two very elegant and comfortable sofa beds (they don't look like sofa beds and are not the French "clic-clac" style). The kitchen has a newly completed coin cuisine, with hob, microwave/oven, and is exceptionally well-equipped. One client commented in our visitors book that the kitchen was better equipped than hers at home! There is a large table and six chairs. All four windows in the reception rooms look out over the Place Carnot, and there is a grandstand view of everything that goes on in the square, such as the regular Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday markets, a delight to behold the stalls laden with flowers fruit and vegetables and all the local produce when you open the shutters and look out. There is a large library in the apartment, and a good selection of CDs, and there are numerous guide books and leaflets about the area. Lots of extras are provided, such as an apron, sewing box, picnic hamper, kleenex, alarm clocks beside the beds, hairdrier in each bedroom, hand mirrors, soap dispensers, shampoo,a washing-up brush that doesn't look as if it is a museum exhibit, large bath sheets rather than tiny bath towels that barely large enough to dry a baby - et cetara et cetera. A cot can be provided if necessary.
Description outside property: The apartment is in a listed building that has arguably the most beautiful facade in the square. The four reception room windows overlook the historic Place Carnot, and is an ideal place to 'people-watch'. There is a Salon de The immediately below the apartment, and there are eight or nine other cafes, brasseries or bars in the square. The square is celebrated for its lime trees and the famous fountain with its statue of Neptune in the centre. On public holidays many of the activities of the town take place on the Place Carnot, and at Christmas for example there is a Christmas market, with snow-covered wooden stalls, a skating rink, various entertainments for children, and of course wonderful decorations - and clients have a grandstand view of everything that is going on! On Bastille Day there is always a huge concert in the square, which sometimes is featured on national television.
In addition of course, everything that you need is within easy walking distance, for example two boulangeries, a butcher, a well-stocked mini market, an ATM and a pharmacy, are one minute away. And of course there are all sorts of other shops within two or three minutes walk.
