Description of facilities: A washing machine + iron/ironing board are available for the use of all our guests and each gite has a clothes airer for drying small amounts of washing/swimming costumes etc. A good range of books, board games and games equipment eg. croquet/badminton sets are kept in our pool bar for all of our guests to access.
Description inside property: The gite is traditionally styled with exposed stone walls and tiled floor. French doors open onto the garden from both the living area and bedroom. The living area features a wood burning stove for use in low season. the interior of the gite has been designed with wider than average doorways and shower to enable it to be negotiated in a wheelchair.
Description outside property: The property is part of a renovated farm, built in stone. It property has a fenced garden area in front of it making it ideal for a pet or toddler. There is a parking area directly adjacent to this property. The gites are set in 7 acres which includes garden, orchard, pasture and wooded areas. Visitors are welcome to wander and relax in the grounds.
Description of eco friendly facilities: We have recently installed a 'Flamme Vert' standard wood burning stove for use in the low season. we also compost vegetable waste.

Description of local area and activities: 'Le Jardin des amis' (Made up of 5 gites) is situated on the edge of the medieval village of Meyrals with it's boulangerie/epicerie, post office, bar, restaurants and small weekly market making it ideal for sampling the local cuisine and wines without the need to drive! A short drive takes one to the national 'Centre of prehistory' at Les Eyzie de Tayac with its museum and plethora of caves to visit. Twenty minutes away is Sarlat, considered one of the best preserved medieval towns in France with its narrow lanes, beautiful buildings and vast market. Meyrals is sandwiched between the Vezere and Dordogne rivers (6km to either) with opportunities for canoeing and fishing, not to mention the many bastide castles to visit. For those who like to get out on foot, there are a wide range of circular walks in the area of differing lengths and difficulty, and as keen walkers we are happy to give you advice on routes.
For those who enjoy browsing around French markets, we can recommend one for every day of the week (all local) and why not start off your stay by stocking up at the sunday morning market in St. Cyprien our nearest small town, 10 minutes away. |
