Description of facilities: Internet cafe just across the road.
Description inside property: Maison Basque is a three storey spacious town house in St. Jean Pied de Port. The house has four bedrooms, sleeping seven. The house, built in 1750 has undergone complete renovation and re-equipping in 2005 mixing the charm of the original house with the practicalities and comfort of modern equipment. After the completion of the refurbishment, the Pyrenees Atlantique tourist board awarded us 3-star rating. The house is deceptively large (126m2) in floor area on three levels with a central oak staircase leading to all floors.
The ground floor lounge (19.5m2) has two large comfortable sofas, TV/DVD, and coffee table. The large window, looking out on to the cobbled street, makes the room light and airy, and as the walls are made of old stone up to 1m thick, the house stays cool in the summer. The kitchen/diner (25m2) has a full electric oven, microwave/grill, gas hob, dishwasher, washing machine, family sized fridge/freezer and lots of cupboards. The dining table has for seating eight and views of the garden. All floors downstairs have ceramic tiles helping to keep the house cool. The kitchen leads out on to the patio and lawned garden. The patio (made from the local dusky-pink stone) has tables and chairs and a bbq for those summer suppers. The central oak stairway leads to the landing on the first floor. Off the landing is the first bedroom (20m2) with twin beds, fitted wardrobe, chest of drawers, wooden floor and a window overlooking the cobbled street. Across the landing there is a corridor off which is the bathroom with shower, toilet and basin.
At the end of the corridor is the second bedroom (15.2m2) which has a double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, original oak floor and a door leading onto the wooden balcony which overlooks the garden and has a view of the nearest mountain, Arrody. Continuing up from the first floor, the stairway leads to a central landing off which there are two further bedrooms. The third bedroom (10.9m2) has a double bed, fitted wardrobes, chest of drawers and wooden floor with a self-contained washroom (4.8m2) with basin and bidet. The fourth bedroom (9.5m2) has a single bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and a wooden floor. For further information please ask us for our website details.
Description outside property: The rear garden is totally private and secure for children. There are no steps and is fenced/walled all round.
