MALAGA The Province of Malaga is located on the southern coast of Spain in Andalucia. It is bordered by the Mediterranean to the south and the provinces of Cadiz, Sevilla, Cordoba and Granada. Malaga is famous for the beautiful Costa del Sol and is steeped in 3,000 years of history. It has been inhabited by the Romans, the Moors and the Carthaginians, all of which have left their mark on this wonderful region. This province is rich in culture, and remains can be viewed at the Archaeological Museum in the capital city Malaga. The province has stunning coastal scenery with a landscape that is so varied, from beautiful mountains to sun kissed beaches and little marinas along the coast. Malaga has many charming white towns, villages and beach resorts, so the choice of location for your holiday rental is very varied. Whether you intend using your location as a base from which to explore and discover this beautiful area, or to just relax and enjoy the locality close to your holiday home, then you will be spoiled for choice and will no doubt leave with many lovely memories of your stay. Activities This Mediterranean province enjoys a warm climate and excellent conditions for outdoor activities all year round. This makes it possible to participate in all sorts of sporting and recreational activities such as, water sports, tennis, beach volleyball, biking, horse riding and many more. In Malaga province you can test your golfing skills on some of the finest golf courses in Spain. In fact there are up to 40 golf courses in the area, offering great variety to players of all levels. To name but a few; Baviera Golf, Las Brisas in Puerto Banus, Atalaya Golf and Cesares Golf. You can rent a self catering villa or holiday apartment either overlooking a golf course or within walking distance, so you can easily play golf to your hearts content. This land of Flamenco dancers and majestic bull fighters is sure to make a lasting impression. Cuisine Eating out in Malaga province is a joy and there are some delightful eateries along the coast and in the towns, where traditional Andalucian fare, composed of delicious seafood dishes and many other specialities can be sampled and enjoyed. Espetos are perhaps the most well known regional speciality- delicious fire grilled sardines on a stick. As well as the excellent restaurants serving typical Andalucian and other Spanish dishes, you will find excellent Asian, vegetarian and avant-garde restaurants are also in abundance in the larger towns such as Malaga. Visitors to Malaga should not miss out on the famous sweet Malaga wine which can be sampled in the many popular bars and restaurants around the region or simply enjoyed on the terrace of your villa rental as the sun sets. Towns and resorts Malaga City is a very lively, historic and cultural city with much of interest to see and do good shops and a fascinating old town quarter to explore and stroll around. There are plenty of excellent restaurants, cafes and bars catering to most tastes. Rent a holiday home in the city or its surrounding area and become a local for a week or two. Marbella is a beach resort dominated by the La Concha Mountain and made fashionable back in the 50’s as a haven for the rich and famous. There are plenty of beautiful holiday rentals in this holiday resort. The old town was built by the Romans and has a wonderful maze of impressively preserved historic buildings. Nerja is a coastal resort with 9km of sandy beaches with charming small coves, which are just one of its attractions as well as its mountain backdrop and its charming old town which still retains characteristics of its Moorish past. Puerto Banus is Spain’s first Pueplo Port with a pretty marina with expensive yachts moored and ready to sun worship, cruise and party. Its many restaurants, bars and outdoor cafes are the ideal place for those who enjoy celebrity spotting. The Plaza is lined with exclusive designer boutiques and is very popular with the visiting glitterati. There are lots of less expensive resorts nearby and the outlying villages make a perfect base for this area. Casares is a beautiful old Moorish town with many Roman influences including a Roman Spa. There are many interesting places to visit in the town and nearby, particularly the stunning views from the castle at the top of the hill. Alcaidesa enjoys beautiful Mediterranean views and good beaches which are less crowded than other coastal resorts. There is much to see and do in and around Alcaidesa and for golf lovers there are some excellent courses with first class facilities and a 380 degree panorama. Situated within a short drive to Gibraltar, Cezares and Ronda, Alcaidesa makes a great base for a holiday rental villa. Sayalonga is a pretty white washed village set in tranquil surroundings, but yet just a short distance to the lovely beaches of Nerja and Torrox. The village has every amenity including restaurants, cafes, weekly market, supermarkets and even its own museum.
