Description of local area and activities: Surzur is a typical French village located 10 minutes drive south east of the medieval town of Vannes and less than 10 minutes drive from miles of sandy beaches and little fishing villages The beaches of Ambon, Damgan and Kervoyal are between 5 and 10 mins drive from Surzur. Damgan is a small tourist town with lots of restaurants bars and shops.
If beach life is not what you want, Surzur is an ideal location for exploring Brittany with its many castles, picturesque towns and historic sites.
The beautifully restored 13th Century Suscino castle, which was one of the favoured residences of the Dukes of Brittany, is a 20 min. drive. It is located beside a long sandy beach. Chateau Plessis Josso, an 18th century manor house is also worth visiting.Vannes, a medieval town that escaped major damage in World War 11, still has four monumental gates and most of its walls in existence. Inside the ramparts, the old cobbled streets and the half wooden buildings are well preserved. Vannes is a market town with a vibrant market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. Most towns in Brittany have their own market day.
Vannes is situated on the gulf of Morbihan, which has numerous islands. Its shores and the islands abound in megalithic monuments. Activities for children
There are plenty of activities for children.
On the beach: Sailing, windsurfing, etc.
Theme parks: Animal park, dinosaur park, aquarium, butterfly park, forest adventure parks, maze park, karting, paintball etc.
Throughout the summer there are numerous music and dance festivals.
