Description inside property: The accommodation is arranged on two floors with all bedrooms having ensuite facilities. The cottage boasts stone walls in the local 'pierre apparent' style and exposed oak beams. Polished wood floors in the bedrooms and tiled floors in the living areas give a clean and airy feel to the property.

Description of local area and activities: Le jardin des Amis (Orchard view) is located at the edge of the medieval village of Meyrals in the perigord noir. The village has 2 restaurants, bar, boulangerie/epicerie, post office and small weekly market all within easy walking distance.
The village is sandwiched between the Vezere and Dordogne rivers making it perfectly situated for accessing a wide range of tourist sites within a short drive. a ten minute drive will take you to Les Eyzie de Tayac, known as the National centre for prehistory. with its plethora of famous caves, prehistoric paintings and carvings as well as its museum. Outdoor activities such as canoeing are available both on the Vezere at Les Eyzie or on the Dordogne at St.Cyprien - our closest small town ten minutes south of Meyral.
Follow the Dordogne valley towards Sarlat for wonderful views of hilltop castles - most open to the public- journeying by car, canoe or traditional 'Gabarre' boat trip.
Sarlat has been described as one of the best preserved medieval towns in France and is well worth a visit to wander in its narrow picturesque lanes or shop at its vast market.
If you like to get away from it all, take one of the many circular walks in the area to see the real 'Dordogne' with its woodlands, limestone cliffs and ancient stone buildings with their steep perigordine roofs. we are keen walkers and can give advice on suitable routes. |
