Description of local area and activities: Cliff hanging chateaux to climb at Lastours and medeival wall town of Carcassonne.Cycle or walk along the waterways of the Rigole that supply water to the Canal du Midi.
Visit the Gouffre Geant de Cabrespine, a large cavern big enough to get the Eiffel Tower in or if you are adventurous, do the five hour tour at the bottom along the river bed.
The old walled town of Carcassonne give a fantastic fireworks display on Bastile Day, ( 14th july) be there early and sit on the old arched bridge looking up through the lower town high street towards the ramparts it is a fantastic disply.High lighting the enactment of the battle with cannons roaring, explosions, fires and water falls. But be warned leave your car well outside the city limits as the traffic gets gridlocked afterwards and do take a vidio camera. |
