Description of facilities: Residence Des Vergnes is a privately owned complex. The property, a mid terrace, is designed for all seasons, with double glazing and shutters to doors and windows.
There is a shared swimming pool/paddling pool, open mid June-mid September, tennis court, boules pitches, table tennis and leisure areas.
The nearest beach, Plage Vergnes, is an 8 minute level stroll away. There are two other coves within 20 mins walk.
St. Georges de Didonne is a 5min drive, with its long sandy beach and promenade, and its daily market in July and August. Adjacent is the lively resort of Royan, with a large selection of restaurants, and family activities.
Description inside property: The accomodation is on two levels,and essentially for a family of 4. On ground level, the kitchen and living room is open plan.
The lounge area has comfortable seating, with sofa and armchairs, and mini hi-fi.
The fully equipped kitchen contains fridge, small oven/grill, microwave, 2 gas hobs, dining area, and all crockery, cutlery and kitchen utensils.
There is a shower room, with hand basin, and separate toilet.
First floor: There is 1 double bedroom, and a mezzanine with full size bunk beds.
There is an electric heater for hot water, and convector heaters.
There are duvets and pillows for the beds - please supply your own bed linen , towels and tea towels.
This is a non-smoking property.
No pets.
Laundry facilities are available on request.

Description of local area and activities: Meschers is a charming village on the west coast of France, near to the resort of Royan, and St Georges de Didonne. The area averages over 2,500 hours of sunshine a year. It is popular for family holidays, which centres on its wide variety of sandy beaches backed by pine forests - Plage Nonnes, Cadet,Vergnes, Ardeche and Suzac. All outdoor activities are catered for, with miles of cycle routes, for which bike hire is readily available. Meschers has a lively port and marina, with several restaurants.
There are many organised activities in July and August, including firework displays, night markets, and daily morning markets with fresh produce.
Day excursions include the lively port of La Rochelle,visiting the distilleries at Cognac, the roman town of Saintes with its large market, and boat hire on the Charente river. The nearby village of Talmont is renowned for its picturesque streets filled with hollyhocks, and its historic church.
There is a large selection of excellent restaurants in the area.
The house location has the best of both worlds - near the coast, and also beautiful countryside. |
